Thomas Miller is Editorial Director at the Breakthrough Institute. He is the editor of Breakthrough Journal and also edits and manages Breakthrough's policy reports, opinion pieces, and online featured content. Thomas is also interim Director of Development, Events, and Operations from March-June 2013.

Thomas came to Oakland from Cambodia, where he was a journalist at the Phnom Penh Post. His reporting has also appeared in Foreign Policy, on NPR's Snap Judgment, and in the Bangkok Post. Thomas worked previously on the successful 2009-10 effort to pass national health care reform, as campaign manager for a state legislative race in Washington State, and for the American Academy in Berlin. He has received fellowships from Princeton in Asia, Humanity in Action, and the Public Policy and International Affairs program. Born and raised in Seattle, Thomas graduated from Whitman College with degrees in Rhetoric and Film Studies and Politics.
