Policy Advisor, Food and Agriculture
Location: Washington, DC
The Breakthrough Institute is seeking a Policy Advisor to advance our Food and Agriculture Program’s policy agenda. This is a position for advocates and researchers looking to get hands-on experience with the policymaking process in Washington, DC.
Draft advocacy documents such as sign-on letters and one-pagers
Support the planning of policy education & advocacy events
Assist other food & agriculture staff with developing federal policy recommendations in publications
Identify new policy proposals to develop, and develop proposals in close collaboration with food & agriculture analysts
Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, environmental studies, or another relevant field
Experience researching and critically evaluating information and compiling it into reports with recommendations for action
Understanding of federal environmental, climate, or agricultural policy
Employees are required to report to the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and may choose to work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Additional hours may be required to meet deadlines. Some travel and evening time may be required depending on events, invitations, presentations, meetings, and other job-related work outside of the office.
All employees must receive the full course of vaccinations and booster for COVID-19.
