Kartikeya is Deputy Director at the Center for Strategic & International Studies. He received his Master of Environmental Science degree at the School of Forestry & Environmental Studies at Yale University. He also holds a PhD in International Affairs from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy. His research interests include climate change and energy policy, the geopolitics of energy use, and energy access and innovation. He has authored many articles focusing on energy, climate change, the citizen sector and the role of youth movements. His Master’s thesis focused on effective management of access to energy for rural communities in India through decentralized renewable energy systems. Prior to coming to the School of Forestry, Kartikeya was a consultant with the Environmental Defense Fund. He is also the co-founder of the Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN). He has been involved with the international climate negotiations since the UN climate talks in Bali, Indonesia (2007) and has served as part of the negotiating team of the government of Maldives at the climate talks since COP 15 in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009.  Kartikeya is willing to be your safari guide to the African Savannah and has been known to take great jumping photos.
