David Hong is the Director of Federal Policy, Food & Agriculture at The Breakthrough Institute, where he leads the organization’s agriculture policy and advocacy engagement across the U.S. government. He brings over 12 years of advocacy and government relations experience on agricultural R&D, global agricultural development and food security, and global nutrition. Most recently, he served as Partner at Kyle House Group, a multi-client government relations firm specializing in international trade and development issues.

In previous roles, David has led government affairs as Senior Vice President at Farm Journal Foundation, served as a foreign affairs fellow for the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa and Global Health, led global policy for One Acre Fund, and managed agriculture policy issues at The One Campaign, where he lived in Washington, DC and Johannesburg, South Africa. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from the University of Delaware. He resides in Maryland, and is a proud father of an ebullient 7-year old daughter.
