Kim-Mai is a partner at Initialized Capital, an early-stage venture firm that has been a seed-stage backer of companies including Coinbase, Instacart, Patreon and Cruise. Before that, she was a journalist for more than 10 years covering technology and finance and she worked for publications including Bloomberg, TechCrunch, and the Wall Street Journal. She developed an expertise in reporting on the intersection of the technology industry and how cities are governed and managed, writing some of the foundational pieces that helped trigger a national conversation about how zoning and taxation practices in California negatively impact housing affordability.
