Peter Cook is a Senior Analyst on the Climate and Energy team, researching topics related to mining, critical minerals and industrial supply chains.
Prior to joining Breakthrough in 2023, Peter worked on drilling rigs and as an exploration geologist for the mining industry. He holds an MS and BS in Geology from the University of Michigan. Peter has been quoted in S&P Global and the National Review, and his work has been cited by Grist, Our World in Data, MIT Technology Review, and numerous members of Congress. Peter's research has been published in the journals Minerals, Environmental Science and Technology, and Nature Communications.
In his free time, Peter enjoys hiking, camping, and exploring historic neighborhoods around Washington, D.C.
