Mark Paul

Assistant Professor of Economics and Environmental Studies, New College of Florida

Mark Paul is an Assistant Professor of Economics and Environmental Studies at New College of Florida. He is also a Fellow at the Roosevelt Institute and a resident Fellow at the University of Southern California’s Berggruen Institute. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Half of his research is focused on understanding the causes and consequences of inequality and assessing and designing remedies to address inequality. The other half of his work is dedicated to the economics of deep decarbonization. Of course, the two are inextricably linked. Mark’s research and writing has appeared in the New York Times, The Economist, Washington Post, The Financial Times, The American Prospect, and MIT Technology Review, among other publications. Mark is currently writing a book entitled Freedom Is Not Enough: Economic Rights for an Unequal World, with Chicago University Press.
