Oren Cass
Senior Fellow, Manhattan Institute
Oren is a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, where he focuses on energy, the environment, and the social safety net. Previously, as domestic policy director of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign in 2011–12, he shaped campaign policy and communication on issues from health care to energy and the environment to trade. Oren has written about climate and environmental policy for publications including the Wall Street Journal, Foreign Affairs, National Affairs, City Journal, National Review, Weekly Standard, and Politico. He has also testified on these issues before House and Senate congressional committees and spoken about them on campuses from MIT and Yale to Penn State and Texas Tech.
Prior to joining MI, Oren was a consultant for Bain & Company in the firm’s Boston and New Delhi offices. He received a B.A. in political economy from Williams College and a J.D. from Harvard University, where he was an editor and the vice president of volume 125 of the Harvard Law Review.
