Comments in Response to Proposed USDA Rule-making on GE Animals

The USDA proposed a new rule for the regulation of genetically engineered animals, which is open for public comment until May 7 (extended, originally closed Feb 26). The proposed regulations would allow more genetically engineered animals to be developed and commercialized, an important step to addressing livestock’s environmental and animal welfare problems.

In comments submitted on the proposed regulation, Breakthrough’s Emma Kovak argues that it should change to more proportionally assess the risks of genetically engineered animals.
