David Martin

A Breakthrough Research Fellow in 2016, David holds a BA in Philosophy, Politics & Economics from the University of York and a MSc in Anthropology, Environment & Development from University College London.

David has worked at the intersection of clean technology and society since 2007. His career has ranged widely, from being lead researcher to the CEO of one of the world’s top sustainability strategy consultancies, to a Parliamentary Assistant in the House of Lords, to Chief Executive of the former Alvin Weinberg Foundation, in addition to other roles. He is a past winner of the Tropical Agriculture Association’s Award for Postgraduate Research and his writing on nuclear energy has appeared in the Daily Telegraph, Wired magazine (UK), and The Engineer.

David has volunteered at a community library in a slum outside Mombasa, travelled from England to Eastern Iran overland, and researched freshwater management amongst the indigenous Lepcha people of North-Eastern India, amongst other travels abroad. To whatever David’s doing he strives to apply his interdisciplinary background, natural curiosity, and taste for synthesis. He likes street photography, is currently fascinated by game theory, and lives in London.
