Faith Martinez Smith

Faith is a Policy Analyst at ClearPath, focusing on the water-energy nexus, energy storage, hydropower, and broad technological innovation policies.
Prior to joining ClearPath, Faith worked for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Underground Injection Control Permits Section and at a water and energy software startup. She also worked with Rio Tinto Kennecott Utah Copper’s energy program before embarking to graduate school.
Her graduate study at the University of Texas-Austin centered on the energy-water nexus as related to fossil fuels, water management and international energy and environmental policy. Her Dual Masters thesis focused on a net water assessment for coal mining in West Virginia, the impacts on surrounding aquifers, potential policy implications and future use of water.
She holds a M.S. in Energy and Earth Resources (Jackson School of Geosciences), a M.G.P.S. in Energy, Environment & Technology Policy from the University of Texas at Austin (LBJ School of Public Affairs), and a B.S. in Environmental Science from Westminster College (Salt Lake City).
Faith is originally from Price, Utah, and loves to spend her free time exploring national parks.
