Green New Deal Research Director, Data for Progress

Greg Carlock serves as the Green New Deal Research Director at Data for Progress, a new multidisciplinary group of experts using state-of-the-art data science, savvy marketing, and grassroots power to shift the conversation on progressive issues. Data for Progress partners with movement actors on political and social media strategies, and deploys surveys, policy research, and data-driven analyses to advance an actionable agenda for the climate, jobs, and equity. Greg led the A Green New Deal report from September 2018, which was seminal to the national policy debate that followed.

Greg also serves as Manager for Climate Action & Data at World Resources Institute, WRI United States. He leads the development of data tools and resources in support of climate action measurement, planning, and implementation. This is unaffiliated with his work with Data for Progress. He is an expert in greenhouse gas accounting and sustainability research and implementation at the local, state, corporate, national, and international levels. As a consultant, he supported U.S. EPA for five years on the U.S. Inventory of GHG Emissions and Sinks, and supported the USAID Global Climate Change Office understand the decarbonization benefits of their clean energy support around the world. He has worked with numerous other private, public, and academic sector organizations on sustainability and mitigation.

Greg received his B.S. degree in Ecology from The Ohio State University (2007) and Masters of Public Policy, Environmental Policy, from University of Maryland (2011).
