Jesse H. Ausubel

Jesse Ausubel directs The Rockefeller University’s Program for the Human Environment, which aims to elaborate the technical vision of a large, prosperous society that emits little harmful and spares large amounts of land and sea for nature. He helped organize the first UN World Climate Conference (1979) and authored much of the original World Climate Program and subsequently initiated and helped lead the Census of Marine Life, Barcode of Life Initiative, and International Quiet Ocean Experiment. He is closely associated with the environmental trinity of decarbonization, dematerialization, and land-sparing. The Breakthrough Institute awarded Jesse its Paradigm Prize in 2014.
