Climate and Energy Analyst
Ryan is a Climate and Energy Analyst at the Breakthrough Institute, applying technical and engineering expertise to develop, evaluate, and strengthen industrial policy proposals. His research focuses on the energy sector and on the future of the U.S. and global industrial sectors from environmental, geopolitical, innovation, and economics perspectives.
Ryan holds a BS in chemical engineering and MS in green technologies engineering from the University of Southern California. He has worked with research teams across several academic labs and a start-up company in the energy materials sector, and represented ASTM International in the 2023 WISE program to publish a report on transmission reform.
His current research covers advanced manufacturing, the hydrogen economy, carbon capture, decarbonizing petrochemical and metallurgical processes, critical mineral supply chains, nuclear fusion, electricity infrastructure policy, and sustainable development in sub-Saharan Africa.
