Vijaya Ramachandran is an economist whose research focuses on economic growth, private sector development, food security, and energy infrastructure, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa. She has three decades of experience in public policy and academia, serving on the faculty of Duke University and Georgetown University as well as working at the World Bank, the Executive Office of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the Center for Global Development. Vijaya is a member of the FCDO-CDC Learning and Evaluation Committee (UK), a research affiliate of the IPA SME Initiative, and a non-resident fellow at the Energy for Growth Hub and the Center for Global Development. Her work has been cited by over fifty media outlets including the Economist, National Public Radio, and Quartz Africa. Vijaya has a PhD in Business Economics from Harvard University.
